ARLINGTON, Va. (WUSA9) -- A Northern Virginia family says they were kicked off a JetBlue flight because of their two-year-old son, despite following instructions from the crew.

The Doshi family was returning from a family vacation Monday morning, flying JetBlue from Boston to Baltimore. The flight attendant had told them that their son needed to be in his seat, and the Doshi's say they complied.

However, the plane still returned to the gate where the family was then escorted off the plane.

The Doshi family has flown many times with their young children, a three-and-a-half-year-old daughter and two-year-old son. But it was the first time their son, Milin, had his own seat. Those are flight rules and Federal Aviation Administration regulations. Their child was squirmy, crying and just wanted to be with mom so the mother put him on her lap during taxiing to the runway. They never expected they would be kicked off the plane.

"We were treated like we were criminals really," said mother Mona Doshi.

Two-year-old Milin was crying as the plane taxied to the runway.

"Ordered us off the plane, ordered us to collect our belongings and ordered us off the plane as if we were terrorists."

The flight attendant demanded the child be in his own seat.

"As soon as they asked us to put him in his seat we put him in his seat.," said father Prishant Doshi.

When they flew to Boston, the flight attendant had said her son could be in her lap during take off. The Doshi's thought they would have the same treatment coming home.

"Not even one minute later, another stewardess came by told me, you need to keep him in his seat. I said, I got it. She said what? I said I got the lecture from the other stewardess. That just set her off. She said 'do we have a problem here? I can turn this plane back to the gate. I said no I got the message," Mona Doshi explained.

She thought that intense exchange would be the end of it.

"I spent about five to seven minutes settling my son down to get him to stop crying. When I finally did that my husband said 'They're turning the plane around. We're heading back to the gate.' We were shocked."

They were met by seven JetBlue representatives after being escorted off the plane.

Mark Tofig was a passenger in front of them and tweeted "The only effect it had (aside from boosting the egos of the attendants) was to make us all late and less enthusiastic about flying @JetBlue"

The day before, another Indian family had a near identical outcome after celebrating their son's third birthday at Disney World. Their son was crying. The plane returned to the gate and the family was kicked off the plane.

In a statement to WUSA9, JetBlue said, "We want our customers to have a safe and comfortable experience on board. Safety is always our top priority, and if our crew feels there is a situation where a customer is unable to follow safety procedures, those customers may need to be accommodated on a future flight."

Jetblue has reached out to the family but they haven't yet connected.

I hate Jet Blue and this story is not very surprising to me. Their employees have very high ego and very little customer service. They should be sued for this incident.

Yeah.. you can say that ... for this sue Jet Blue. Actually, Jet Blue is doing this so that they are not sued if they allow 2+ year old kid to stay un restrained, and in an unfortunate event during take off the  unrestrained "object" ( whatever it is ) falls down, or hit somewhere.... and get hurt and that becoming national news, get sued, the attendant lose her job for not following in flight rules... come on "Indian Family".. go by the rules.
