Now we have a global economy. In the past we could go on with our affairs oblivious to what is happening elsewhere. Now everything is interconnected. We can’t live in isolation as if we haven’t seen the developments outside our country. We are forced to consider what is happening around the world. If we need to keep the standard of living in other countries, our governments need to bring somewhat similar developments and advanced technology in India too. If not, that government can’t stay in power as most of the people want the same standard of living as in other countries. People are watching through TV and social media what is taking place in other countries. A government has to listen to what the majority of people want. The idealistic view of some of the writers here like Vidhyadharan not pragmatic in their outlook and will not stand in the face of public demand. I love nature and stand for taking care of our environment. An airport at Aranmula is not that is damaging our nature or environment. Take into consideration the amount of pollution contributed by coal using industries, automobiles etc. that damage nature and environment. To reduce pollution and to safeguard nature we need more of reliable mass public transportation reducing the demand for automobiles. It is pure politics that some of these groups make a big issue of heritage and damage to the environment while close their eyes to the big contributors to pollution that damage our nature and environment. More and more people are moving to the cities. We can’t pass legislation to prevent it. Now transportation to and fro is a must. To attract foreign exchange through tourists to increase our revenue and to keep a good standard of living, we need to provide good transportation facilities for tourists. If we do not develop it the tourist income will go to other countries or states that provide such facilities. The transportation and infrastructure facilities we see now in USA is the result of advanced planning that took into consideration the need for transportation 40 or 50 years ahead. Can we see fifty or sixty years ahead as the city planners do here? In Houston the transportation facilities not adequate now as it can’t keep pace with the increased demand although the city planners here were not worried about issues like Aarammula heritage or other petty political issues. The leaders of Aaramula heritage are shortsighted. To move ahead and to have a good standard of living for our coming generations we must rise above the petty politics like Aaranmmula heritage and have the vision for the future of our country with balanced developments and at the same time taking care of environment.  I wish if Aaranmula do not want the Airport there then Mallappally find the land for the Airport to move it there. It will change the face of our village and at the same time equip our country to take off to the next centaury. If we need to have the ‘Vikasanam that prime-minister Modi proclaim, them we need to pull together as a nation and rise above petty politics like Aaranmula heritage.
