ന്യൂജേഴ്‌സി: ന്യൂജേഴ്‌സിയില്‍ നിന്നും നെടുമ്പാശേരി എയര്‍പോര്‍ട്ടില്‍ എത്തിയ അമ്മയോടും മകളോടും കസ്റ്റംസ്‌ അധികൃതര്‍ മോശമായി പെരുമാറിയെന്ന്‌ ആക്ഷേപം. വെസ്റ്റ്‌ ഓറഞ്ചില്‍ താമസിക്കുന്ന എഡിസണ്‍ ഏബ്രഹാമാണ്‌ കേന്ദ്ര പ്രവാസികാര്യ മന്ത്രി വയലാര്‍ രവിക്ക്‌ പരാതി അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്‌.

പരാതിക്ക്‌ ആസ്‌പദമായ സംഭവം ഇപ്രകാരമാണ്‌. എഡിസന്റെ ഭാര്യ ടെസി എഡിസനും മകള്‍ ശ്രുതി എഡിസന്‍ വള്ളിക്കുന്നേലും നാട്ടിലേക്ക്‌ പോയത്‌ ഒരു അത്യാവശ്യത്തിനായിരുന്നു. എമിറേറ്റ്‌സ്‌ എയര്‍ലൈന്‍സില്‍ ഫെബ്രുവരി മൂന്നാംതീയതി വെളുപ്പിന്‌ 3.30-ന്‌ ഇവര്‍ നെടുമ്പാശേരി എയര്‍പോര്‍ട്ടിലിറങ്ങി. കസ്റ്റംസ്‌ പരിശോധനയ്‌ക്കിടെ ടെസിയോടും ശ്രുതിയോടും കുപിതനായി സംസാരിച്ച നമ്പ്യാര്‍ എന്ന ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥന്‍, മറ്റ്‌ യാത്രക്കാര്‍ നോക്കിനില്‍ക്കെ സ്വര്‍ണാഭരണങ്ങള്‍ കാണിക്കാന്‍ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു.

ഇന്ത്യയ്‌ക്കു പുറത്തുനിന്നെത്തുന്നവര്‍, 25,000 രൂപയ്‌ക്കുമേല്‍ വിലവരുന്ന സ്വര്‍ണ്ണം കൊണ്ടുവരരുതെന്നും, ഇല്ലെങ്കില്‍ സ്വര്‍ണ്ണം വാങ്ങിയതിന്റെ തെളിവു കാണിക്കണമെന്നും നമ്പ്യാര്‍ പറഞ്ഞു. എന്നാല്‍ ടെസിയുടേയും ശ്രുതിയുടേയും പക്കല്‍ ഇതു സംബന്ധിച്ച ബില്ല്‌ ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു. തങ്ങളുടെ പക്കലുള്ള 50 ഗ്രാം സ്വര്‍ണ്ണത്തിന്റെ വിശദാംശങ്ങള്‍ പാസ്‌പോര്‍ട്ടില്‍ രേഖപ്പെടുത്താമെന്നും തിരിച്ചുപോകുമ്പോള്‍ സ്വര്‍ണ്ണം കൊണ്ടുപോയ്‌ക്കൊള്ളാമെന്നും അല്ലെങ്കില്‍ ഇതു സംബന്ധിച്ച രേഖ പിന്നീട്‌ ഹാജരാക്കാമെന്നും ടെസി ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥനോട്‌ പറഞ്ഞതായി എഡിസണ്‍ പരാതിയില്‍ ചൂണ്ടിക്കാട്ടുന്നു.

എന്നാല്‍ ഇത്‌ ഗൗനിക്കാതെ പിഴയടയ്‌ക്കാന്‍ നമ്പ്യാര്‍ നിര്‍ബന്ധിച്ചു. ഇതിനിടെയില്‍ സുജയെന്നു പേരുള്ള മറ്റൊരു കസ്റ്റംസ്‌ ഓഫീസറും എത്തി. 7187 രൂപ പിഴയടപ്പിച്ചു. ഈ വനിതാ കസ്റ്റംസ്‌ ഓഫീസറും വളരെ മോശമായാണ്‌ പെരുമാറിയതത്രേ. മറ്റ്‌ യാത്രക്കാരുടെ പക്കലും സ്വര്‍ണ്ണമുണ്ടായിരുന്നുവെങ്കിലും അവരെ ചെക്കിംഗിന്‌ വിധേയരാക്കാതെ കടത്തിവിടുകയായിരുന്നുവെന്ന്‌ പരാതിയില്‍ പറയുന്നു.

ദൗര്‍ഭാഗ്യകരമായ ഈ സംഭവത്തെക്കുറിച്ച്‌ അന്വേഷിക്കണമെന്നും, മേലില്‍ ഇത്തരം കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ ആവര്‍ത്തിക്കപ്പെടാതിരിക്കാന്‍ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥര്‍ക്ക്‌ കര്‍ശന നിര്‍ദേശം നല്‍കണമെന്നും എഡിസണ്‍ ഏബ്രഹാം മന്ത്രി വയലാര്‍ രവിയോട്‌ അഭ്യര്‍ത്ഥിച്ചു. വര്‍ഷങ്ങള്‍ക്കുശേഷം ജന്മനാട്ടിലെത്തിയ തന്റെ ഭാര്യയ്‌ക്കും മകള്‍ക്കുമുണ്ടായ ഈ ദുരനുഭവം വേദനാജനകമാണെന്ന്‌ എഡിസണ്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.

ഇരുപത്‌ ദിവസം മുമ്പ്‌ ബഹു. മന്ത്രി വയലാര്‍ രവിക്ക്‌ അയച്ച നിവേദനത്തിന്‌ ഇതുവരെ മറുപടി ലഭിച്ചിട്ടില്ലെന്ന്‌ അറിയുന്നു.

അതുപോലെതന്നെ കാലഹരണപ്പെട്ട നിയമങ്ങളുടെ മറവില്‍ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥന്മാര്‍ യാത്രക്കാരെ ചൂഷണം ചെയ്യാതിരിക്കാന്‍, സ്വര്‍ണ്ണം കൊണ്ടുപോകാവുന്ന പരിധി ഉയര്‍ത്തേണ്ടതാണെന്നും പരക്കെ അഭിപ്രായമുണ്ട്‌. സ്‌ത്രീകള്‍ക്ക്‌ 20 പവനും പുരുഷന്മാര്‍ക്ക്‌ 10 പവനും അനുവദിക്കേണ്ടതാണ്‌.

എയര്‍പോര്‍ട്ടില്‍ ജോലിചെയ്യുന്ന ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥര്‍ക്ക്‌ യാത്രക്കാരോട്‌ എങ്ങനെ മര്യാദയ്‌ക്ക്‌ പെരുമാറണം എന്ന വിഷയത്തെക്കുറിച്ച്‌ ബോധവത്‌കരണ ക്ലാസുകളും പരിശീലനവും നല്‍കേണ്ടതാണ്‌. അവരുടെ സൗജന്യത്തിലാണ്‌ യാത്രക്കാര്‍ കടന്നുപോകുന്നത്‌ എന്ന മിഥ്യാധാരണയാണ്‌ അവര്‍ക്കുള്ളത്‌. നാടിന്റെ സാമ്പത്തിക പുരോഗതിയില്‍ പ്രവാസി മലയാളികളുടെ വിലയേറിയ പങ്ക്‌ മറക്കാതിരിക്കട്ടെ.

I wish to bring the following for you kind attend and immediate action.
 
My name is Edison Abraham who is residing in New Jeresy for the last 12 years who is originally from Kanjirapplay, Kottayam dist.
 
Yesterday my wife  Tessy Edison (Passport NO. 97850435) and my daughter  Sruthi Edison Vallikkunnel went to India for an emergency matter through Emirites airlines. 
I regret to inform that they  bad a very bad experience at Nedumbassery airport. They reached there at 3.30 am on 3rd February 2012. One Mr.Nambiar talked in a very rude manner with my wife and daughter in front of  all the passengers asking to show all the gold ornaments. and  he said you cannot  bring more the Rs.25000 worth gold from outside and you should pay the penalty for this unless you show the proof  where is was purchased. As they are unable to show that at that point of time, my wife told them that you can  enter  the details of the  gold (which was  about 50 grams) in my passport and i am going to take it back when i go back to USA after a few weeks or  I will produce the documents when I come back.
He said I do not want to hear all these and you should report to the counter 1 and pay the penalty.  He followed them and forced them to pay the  penalty of Rs. 7187.00 with the help of one Suja , another customs officer .  She also behaved in a rude and arrogant manner with my family in front of others.
There are lot of passengers with  little bit of gold like this. But they have allowed most of them without checking (I am not sure whether they are getting bribe from them) 50 grams of gold for 2 ladies is not a big amount.  But these people make this as a big issue and harassing like this.
 
It is very sad to get such bad attitude from our state while we go to our country after a long gap. Please investigate  the matter and take necessary action against these two  officers.  They should not behave like this  at least to other passengers.
