പരുക്കിനും കാരണക്കാരനായ സ്റ്റീഫന്‍ ക്രെയ്ഗ് പാഡോക്ക് (64) റിട്ട.

എന്തിനാണു അയാള്‍ ഇതു ചെയ്തതെന്നു വ്യക്തമല്ല. മാനസിക കുഴപ്പമാണോ എന്നു പോലീസ് വ്യക്തമാക്കിയിട്ടില്ല. എന്തായാലും പൊലീസ് എത്തും മുന്‍പ് അയാള്‍ സ്വയം വെടി വച്ച് മരിച്ചു.
ഫ്‌ളൊറിഡയില്‍ നിന്നു നെവാഡയിലെ മെസ്‌ക്വിറ്റിലേക്ക് 2015-ലാണ് താമസം മാറിയത്. ശാന്തജീവിതം നയിച്ച വ്യക്തിയായിരുന്നു സ്റ്റീഫനെന്നും വളരെ സമ്പന്നനായിരുന്നുവെന്നും ഫ്‌ളോറിഡയിലുള്ള അര്‍ദ്ധ സഹോദരന്‍ എറിക് പാഡോക്ക് മാധ്യമങ്ങളൊടു പറഞ്ഞു.
സ്റ്റീഫന്റെ പിതാവ് പാട്രിക് ബെഞ്ചമിന്‍ പാഡോക്ക് 1960-70കളില്‍ ബാങ്ക് കൊള്ളക്കാരനായിരുന്നു. എഫ്ബിഐയുടെ പിടികിട്ടാപുള്ളികളുടെ പട്ടികയിലും ഇടംപിടിച്ചിരുന്നു. ഏതാനും വര്‍ഷം മുന്‍പാണ് മരിച്ചത്. എറിക്കിന്റെ പിതാവ് മറ്റൊരാളാണ്. അമ്മ ഫ്‌ളൊറിഡയില്‍ ഉണ്ട്. അടുത്തയിടക്കു കൊടുങ്കാറ്റ് വന്നപോള്‍ അവരുടെ വീടിനു ചെറിയ നാശം ഉണ്ടായി. അമ്മയെപറ്റി അന്വേഷിച്ച് ഒരാഴ്ച മുന്‍പ് സ്റ്റീഫന്‍ ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നതായി എറിക്ക് പറഞ്ഞു.
ഉല്‍ക്ക വന്നുവീഴും പോലെയാണ് അക്രമണത്തെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള വാര്‍ത്ത കേട്ടതെന്നു എറിക് പറയുന്നു.
പണംചൂതുകളിയില്‍ നിന്നു ലഭിച്ചതാണെന്നാണ് സ്റ്റീഫന്‍ സുഹൃത്തുക്കളോട് പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നത്. പ്രൊഫഷനല്‍ പോക്കര്‍ കളിക്കാരനായിരുന്നു
27 വര്‍ഷം മുന്‍പ് വിവാഹ മോചനം നേടി. കുട്ടികളില്ല. ഒരു ഫിലിപ്പിനൊയുയുമായി അടുപ്പമുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. എന്നാല്‍ സംഭവ സമയത്ത് അവര്‍ ഫിലിപ്പിന്‍സിലായിരുന്നു.
വീട്ടില്‍ നിന്നു ഏതാനും തോക്കുകള്‍ കണ്ടെടുത്തു. ഹോട്ടല്‍ മുറിയില്‍ നിന്നു 10 എണ്ണവും. ഹോട്ടലിലില്‍ നിന്നു കിട്ടിയ തോക്കുകള്‍ എവിടെ നിന്നു വാങ്ങിയതെന്നു വ്യക്തമല്ല.
ചുറ്റിക പോലുള്ള ഉപകരണം കൊണ്ട് ജനല്‍ തകര്‍ത്താണ് വെടിവയ്പ് നടത്തിയത്.
പൈലറ്റ് ലൈസന്‍സുണ്ടായിരുന്നെങ്കിലും 2008-ല്‍ അതു റദ്ദായി.

മാണ്ഡലേ ബേ കാസിനൊ ഹോട്ടലിനടുത്തുള്ള ബാലിസ് ഹോട്ടലില്‍ ഒരാഴ്ചയായി നടക്കുന്ന കോണ്‍ഫ്രറന്‍സില്‍ പങ്കെടുക്കാന്‍ ഒട്ടേറെ പോസ്റ്റല്‍ യൂണിയന്‍ നേതാക്കള്‍എത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. അവരില്‍ ന്യു ജെഴ്‌സിയില്‍ നിന്നു പോയ ആനി മണിമലേത്തും ഉള്‍പ്പെടും. ഉറങ്ങാന്‍ പൊകുന്നതു വരെ സംശയകരമായി ഒന്നുമില്ലായിരുന്നുവെന്നു ആനി പറഞ്ഞു. രാവിലെയാണു സംഭവം അറിയുന്നത്. സംഭവം നടക്കുമ്പോള്‍ ബാലിസിലും കര്‍ഫ്യൂ പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു. ആളുകളോട് എവിടെ നില്‍ക്കുന്നോ അവിടെത്തന്നെ നില്‍ക്കാന്‍ പറാഞ്ഞു.
മരിച്ചവരില്‍ ഇന്ത്യാക്കാരില്ലെന്നാണു ഇതുവരെയുള്ള വിവരങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്നു വ്യകതമാകുന്നതെന്നു ഇന്ത്യന്‍ വിദേശമന്ത്രാലയവും അറിയിച്ചു. പരുക്കേറ്റവരിലുണ്ടോ എന്നു ഇനിയും വ്യക്തമല്ല.
സംഭവത്തില്‍ ദുഖ സൂചകമായി 2.41-നു ഒരു നിമിഷം രാജ്യവ്യാപകമായി മൗനംപാലിച്ചു. പ്രസിഡന്റ് ട്രമ്പ് ബുധനാഴ്ച ലാസ് വേഗസിലെത്തും.

No Indian casualty in Las Vegas concert massacre

There has been no Indian casualty so far in the mass shooting at a Las Vegas concert on Sunday evening that claimed over 50 lives, the External Affairs Ministry said on Monday.
"No reports received of any Indian nationals amongst those affected in Las Vegas shooting incident," External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar tweeted.
"CGI (Consul General of India) San Francisco monitoring the situation," he posted.
In one of the deadliest mass shootings in American history, over 50 people were killed and more than 400 injured as a gunman in a high-rise hotel here opened fire on a huge outdoor concert festival, sending thousands of terrified survivors fleeing for cover.
The gunman, identified by police as local resident Stephen Paddock, was later found dead by officers on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino from where he opened fire into the concert, Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said during a news briefing.
Thousands of concertgoers who had gathered for a three-day music festival raced towards shelter when the gunfire began at 10.30 p.m. on Sunday while singer Jason Aldean was performing on stage. Police said over 22,000 people were at the concert when Paddock began firing round after round.

Pope 'saddened' by 'senseless' Las Vegas shootings

Pope Francis is praying for the victims of the deadly mass shootings in Las Vegas and was "deeply saddened" to learn of the "senseless tragedy" which killed over 50 people and wounded over 400, Vatican Radio reported on Monday.
"Deeply saddened to learn of the shooting in Las Vegas," Vatican Radio cited a telegram sent on behalf of the pontiff to the Bishop of Las Vegas, Joseph Anthony Pepe, by Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin
"Pope Francis sends the assurance of his spiritual closeness to all those affected by this senseless tragedy," the telegram continued, praising the response of police and emergency services and promising his prayers.
The Islamic State jihadist group claimed Sunday's attack in Las Vegas, which has been described as the deadliest mass shooting in recent United States history.
In a statement carried by its Amaq news agency on Monday, IS said the gunman converted to Islam in recent months and staged the attack in response to its calls to target countries taking part in the US-led military coalition against the group.
The gunman, identified by US police as 64-year-old Stephen Paddock - a Nevada resident - died at the scene. Police said he fired from the 32nd floor of a Las Vegas Strip casino hotel onto an outdoor country music festival on Sunday night.
Police were on Monday interviewing Paddock's relatives and neighbours in a bid to uncover what may have triggered the shooting spree.
