The husband of a young Pakistani mother has been charged with her murder after acknowledging he and another woman had set up Tuesday night’s attack.

Morris County Prosecutor Robert Bianchi said at a press conference today in Morristown that Kashif Parvaiz admitted his involvement in the shooting death of his wife, Nazish Noorani, as she pushed their 3-year-old son in a stroller.

A second suspect, Antoinette Stephen, was arrested by U.S. Marshals late Thursday night just outside of Boston and also been charged with murder, the prosecutor's office said. (see the affidavit: http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2011/08/husband_of_woman_murdered_in_b.html

Bianchi said Parvaiz was charged within hours of the shooting and that two handguns were retrieved from his black Infiniti SUV.

“Within hours of the crime, it was obvious to investigators that this was sadly the alleged handiwork of the victim's husband who allegedly did the unthinkable and plotted to murder his wife,” Bianchi said.

Noorani, whose funeral was this afternoon in Boonton, was shot four times in the chest and died instantly as she and Parvaiz pushed their son up Cedar Street in a stroller. The boy was not hurt.

Parvaiz sustained superficial wounds in the shooting, which authorities said was part of the plan. Bianchi did not say who they suspect shot Noorani.

The couple also has a 5-year-old, who was not present when the shooting took place.

The prosecutor said Parvaiz conspired with Stephen, a friend he had known from Brooklyn, to have his wife killed because of issues in the couple's six-year marriage. Parvaiz told investigators he was upset that Noorani had spoken negatively about his family. Bianchi did not characterize the type of relationship Parvaiz and Stephen had.

"There is obviously a relationship. I'm not saying it is a physical relationship," he said.

Parvaiz has admitted to several affairs, officials said.

The prosecutor also said Parvaiz gave investigators conflicting accounts of what had happened Tuesday night. He originally said he and his wife were shot by one white male, one black male and a third unknown male who had shouted racial epithets and called them “terrorists.” He later changed his story to say there were three black males who fled on foot after the shooting.

Parvaiz later told police the shooting was an accident, before finally admitting his involvement, authorities said.

According to the arrest affidavit, he told police the shooting was an accident and that he had not intended for it to happen. He also said he did not want to go to jail and that he should be with his children, the affidavit states.

In his confession, Parvaiz told Capt. Jeffrey Paul of the Morris County Prosecutor's Office that he did not want to be the person to look at his children and tell them he took their mother away.
