Obama Praises Muslims For Human Rights

July 29, 2014

Bill Donohue comments on President Obama's remarks last night at the White House honoring Eid-al-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan:

Last night the president said that Eid "reminds us of the many achievements and contributions of Muslim Americans to building the very fabric of our nation and strengthening the core of our democracy." He would have done us a service had he enumerated them. "That is why we stand with people of all faiths," he continued, "here at home and around the world, to protect and advance their rights to prosper, and we welcome their commitment to giving back to their communities."

No, Mr. President, you do not stand with "people of all faiths" in protecting and advancing human rights. As you speak, Christians are being beheaded all over the Middle East because they are Christians, and those carrying out this mass murder are doing so in the name of Islam. Yet you continue to say and do absolutely nothing about these unspeakable crimes. Do Christian lives mean so little to you?

When I type "President Obama Speaks Out," or "Speaks Against," in the search engines of Bing, Google, and Yahoo, the sentence automatically closes with such objects as "Trayvon Martin," "Kanye West," "Fox News," and "Bullying." I can search in vain to find you condemning the genocidal slaughter of Christians by Muslims.

Ditto for Jews. Muslim terrorists are killing Jews in Israel and their representatives have pledged to wipe Jews off the face of the earth. Yet your administration spends most of its time lecturing Israelis to be patient. About what? Being bombed because they are Jews? Do Jewish lives mean so little to you?

No one wants you to insult Muslim Americans in the White House, but you had an opportunity to at least call on them to speak out about what their people are doing in the Middle East, and you blew it. Instead, you decided to patronize them for all their contributions to human rights.

This is an issue of Christian genocide in Middle East. The Muslims are killing Christians in Iraq and other places or driving them out from their homes. Rathen than condeming it, why speak of Christ's message? What is the use of speaking peace to those do these crimes? If Israel attacks Palestinians, it is equally bad. Nobody agrees to that.
I dont know what Vidyadharan is saying. Christians should suffer without protesting? The so called Christian countries in the West and America do not do anything for fellow Christians

Why can’t you invite people from all religion and have a demonstration in front of UN Instead of turning your anger against Vidyaadharan? If you invite Christians, Hindus, Muslims, and Jews and have a peaceful rally, it will reflect the cardinal principal of all religion and bring glory to all Gods.
Christian 2014-07-29 11:22:34
Anthappan and Vidyadharan should tell these things to the Muslims who are committing the genocide and driving out people from their homes. Dont support the attackers. Support the suffering people, whether they are Christian or Muslim in Palestine. No Muslim in America spoke against these. Then why call them to the rally? We have seen the plight of Kashmiri Pandits driven out in Kashmir or Muslims pushed to ghettos in Gujarat.
Anthappan 2014-07-29 13:46:26
Anybody can tell this to anyone if you really understand the teaching of Christ. If you talk to any laymen of any religion they are all peace loving people. A small faction of the people in religions around the world is creating this havoc around us because they are misguided by the leadership with hidden agenda. The question Christian raised is whether I would be able to talk to this people. Jesus showed the world how to approach different issues at different times. Jesus never advocated killing or violence to resolve any problems. All his actions to address any problem ceased before it took a turn to violence; either he kept quite or he left the place. First you have to isolate the problem and act according to each problem. As I said earlier Jesus took different approach at different time. He was very aggressive when he drove out the merchants from Jerusalem temple whereas he was quite in front of Pontius Pilate. He called King Herod a fox and he challenged the Jewish teachers and intellectuals for their skewed thinking and teaching about God. First you respect the fellow beings as human beings and deal with the problems. A Christian criticizing the Hindus for idolatry or generalizing the Muslims and blaming them for all the terrorism in the world or Vice- versa are not going to resolve any problem. With respect and love you can win anyone’s heart but there is cost for it and that is crucifixion, gets shot or at least criticism from the majority. Be a different Christian rather than following the crowd.
Christian 2014-07-29 15:59:17
Anthappan is correct. But here the problem is people driven out from their homes. They were asked to convert to Islam or leave the place. Otherwise they will be killed. Can we deal with such people peacefully?
If you are asked the same in India, what will be your feelings? Driven out from your home just because of your religion. or get killed or convert.
mathi mo 2014-07-29 16:02:18
Looking to the comments from Christan, the christan community is the only coomunity in the world who are attacking by the other community. What about in Pakistan and Bengladesh. Thousand hindus are attacked by other people. What happend in Bosnia. The poor muslims were attacked by christan people and now they all are in USA
Anthappan 2014-07-29 17:30:50
In South Africa, Gandhi was kicked out of the train and beaten up by the White man. But that never deterred Gandhi’s internal decision to deal the problem proactively. Gandhi, as I understand, read the ‘Kingdom of Heaven is within you’ written by Tolstoy, inspired by the sermon of the mount by Jesus, many times. All these leaders crossed the barriers of religion, race, and color and that is why they stand out. I see the comment posted by someone about Obama as absurd. He is doing the right thing as the world is celebrating Ramadan which promotes tolerance, forgiveness, peace and love. We cannot blame Muslims, Hindus, Christians, Jews, or any other people for what a small fraction of their religion doing in this world. If we cannot come out of the box and enjoy the beauty of creation in its different colors and shape, then we won’t even understand the concept of God the truth and love. Unless and until people and their leaders find peace and love in their own heart they will never be able resolve the small and big problems in life and even the issues Christian raised.
