A Michel Brown‘s shooting death in Missouri shook the nation and President had to make a statement and sent his Attorney General to calm down the public. Rev. Al Sharpton made the following statement. “I think that what we can say is that we must turn this moment into a movement to really deal with the underlying issues of police accountability and what is and is not allowable by police, and what citizens ought to be moving toward,” Sharpton said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “I think that we need to deal with how we move toward solutions, how we deal with the whole aggressive policing of what is considered low-level crimes.” It is really disgusting for the Malayaalee community to do nothing about the death of Praveen other than making statements filled with jargons. FOMA , FOKKANA , Associations all over in USA, Justice For All organization, Churches and their leaders proved time and again that they don’t have the resolve to stand up for the justice of this young man and many others brutally murdered or disappeared without any trace. I request the family to make an appointment with Rev. Al Sharpton and ask to join him in his effort to ‘turn this moment into a movement to really deal with the underlying issues of police accountability.” I hope e-malayaalee won’t discard this, thinking that I am a faceless man as someone suggested in your comment column. I have registered through DISQUS and commented many times in your paper. If you feel my comment is inflammatory it is because of the urgency in which we need to move to address the issues. Justice delayed is Justice denied.

I don’t think Anthappan is making any inflammatory comments but he is a radical follower of Jesus and his comments can disturb some who claim that they are Christians. If we analyze this comment it is evident that he passionate about Justice for all rather than limited it for certain groups only. Please publish his comments because it makes sense compared to many who get bogged down in trivial matters.

Anthappan is absolutely right. St. Louis (CNN) -- The funeral of slain Ferguson, Missouri, teenager Michael Brown was a celebration of his life, a search for meaning in his death and a battle cry to change policing in America. In his national eulogy, the Rev. Al Sharpton had sharp words for those who looted stores and rioted in the aftermath of the shooting. "You don't understand that Michael Brown does not want to be remembered for a riot. He wants to be remembered as the one that made America deal with how we're going to police in the United States." Sharpton criticized police action against protesters in Ferguson with a call to action. "We have to leave here today and change this." "Michael Brown's blood is crying from the ground, crying for vengeance, crying for justice," said the Rev. Charles Ewing, the teenager's uncle. He drew parallels between Brown's life, death and Scripture. "There is a cry being made from the ground, not just for Michael Brown but for the Trayvon Martins, for those children at Sandy Hook Elementary School, for the Columbine massacre, for the black-on-black crime."

For the attention of the Mother of late Mr. Praveen - Dear sister – I know your loss is irreparable but if you look at some of the mothers in history then they will tell you what they accomplished from the greatest tragedy of their life time. I am just quoting the history of Mothers against Drunk Driving for your reading. I hope you will meet with Rev. AL Sharpton and join him to fight the police injustice. “Candice (Candy) Lightner is the organizer and was the founding president of Mothers Against Drunk Driving. On May 3, 1980 Lightner’s 13-year-old daughter, Cari, was killed by a drunken hit-and-run driver at Sunset and New York Avenues in Fair Oaks, California. The 46-year-old driver, who had recently been arrested for another DUI hit-and-run, left her body at the scene.[1] A 1983 television movie about Lightner resulted in publicity for the group, which grew rapidly. In the early 1980s, the group attracted the attention of the United States Congress. Frank R. Lautenberg, a New Jersey Senator, did not like the fact that youth in New Jersey could easily travel into New York to purchase alcoholic beverages, thereby circumventing New Jersey's law restricting consumption to those 21 years old and over.[7] The group had its greatest success with the imposition of a 1984 federal law, the National Minimum Drinking Age Act, that introduced a federal penalty (a 5%–later raised to 10%–loss of federal highway dollars), for states that didn't raise to 21 the minimum legal age for the purchase and possession of alcohol. After the United States Supreme Court upheld the law in the 1987 case of South Dakota v. Dole, every state and the District of Columbia capitulated by 1988 (but not the territories of Puerto Rico and Guam). In 1985, Lightner objected to the shifting focus of MADD, and left her position with the organization. In 1988, a drunk driver traveling the wrong way on Interstate 71 in Kentucky caused a head-on collision with a school bus. Twenty seven people died and dozens more were injured in the ensuing fire. The Carrollton bus disaster in 1988 equaled another bus crash in Kentucky in 1958 as the deadliest bus crash in U.S. history. In the aftermath, several parents of the victims became actively involved in MADD, and one became its national president. In 1990, MADD Canada was founded.[8] In 1994, the Chronicle of Philanthropy, an industry publication, released the results of the largest study of charitable and non-profit organization popularity and credibility. The study showed that MADD was ranked as the "most popular charity/non-profit in America of over 100 charities researched with 51% of Americans over the age of 12 choosing Love and Like A lot for MADD.[9] In 1991, MADD released its first "Rating the States" report, grading the states in their progress against drunk driving. "Rating the States" has been released four times since then. In 1999, MADD’s National Board of Directors unanimously voted to change the organization’s mission statement to include the prevention of underage drinking.[10] In 2002, MADD announced an "Eight-Point Plan". This comprised: 1. Resuscitate the nation's efforts to prevent impaired driving. 2. Increase driving while intoxicated (DWI)/driving under the influence (DUI) enforcement, especially the use of frequent, highly publicized sobriety checkpoints. 3. Enact primary enforcement seat belt laws in all states. 4. Create tougher, more comprehensive sanctions geared toward higher-risk drivers. 5. Develop a dedicated National Traffic Safety Fund. 6. Reduce underage drinking. 7. Increase beer excise taxes to the same level as those for spirits. 8. Reinvigorate court monitoring programs.[11] In a November 2006 press release, MADD launched its 'Campaign to Eliminate Drunk Driving': this is a four-point plan to completely eliminate drunk driving in the United States using a combination of current technology (such as alcohol ignition interlock devices), new technology in smart cars, law enforcement, and grass roots activism.[12] Chuck Hurley was MADD CEO from 2005-2010.[13] He retired in June 2010 and was replaced by Kimberly Earle, who had been CEO of Susan G. Komen for the Cure since 2007.[14] Earle left to work for Sanford Health in January 2012.[15] Debbie Weir was named MADD's new Chief Executive Officer.
