I am not worried whether Jesus is going to come as a thief to supervise his followers but people can practice what he taught and practiced when he was alive. But, one thing is for sure that those who claim that they are his followers are all thieves. Good poem.

There are plenty of gods in Hinduism to write about. Why write about Christ? It is another veiled threat of Hindutva...First you start to consider all Indian citizens as equals. Otherwise what is the use of a country?

Don’t get intimidated by the fake Christians who can’t even practice one percent of what Jesus asked them to do. Christians cannot carry the cross Jesus carried and they cannot drink from the cup he drank because they are hypocritical to the core. Pen to the right Pent to the left Until the fake get destroyed.

To be frank, this Christian is a vargeeyavadi. He knows when RSS people write kavitha to attack and denigrate Christianity and the long term threat. When did Hindu males start sporting a bindi?
Before worrying about other religions, pl do something about the untouchables and lower castes, who live like slaves. If the lower caste in KErala is better, it is a contribution of Communism, not religion.

There is a general tendency among people to think of themselves as higher in values, or better in behavior. Criticizing others too much is from this psychology. These people do not see the log in their own eyes but try to take the speck in another’s eye. A self-evaluation is better than pointing fingers. They claim, “If I were in your position, I wouldn’t have done what you are doing”. These people consider their own tradition and heritage better than others. Since they can’t openly say that, they use literary field to establish this and feel good. Please watch out for such souls.

Unless and until people like Ninan Matthulla and the so called Christian dispel darkness from their heart and see the truth which Jesus was trying to teach, they will never be able to accept any other fellow beings as the expression of the divinity dwelling in this universe.

We practiced christianity in Iraq or Orissa. what happened? The fanatics came and attacked us.
Others try to attack using words, as if their religion is some big thing with no faults.
Anthappan 2014-09-29 17:33:57
Christianity is the invention of people like you and it has nothing to do with the great teacher Jesus. If you were truly a follower of Christ, you would never have dared to criticize this poet for what he has written. The poets motif was good but you skewed it because of the darkness in you. Try to learn the teaching of Christ rather than drumming yourself up as Christen. Not only Iraq or Syria but whatever is happening in this world is the twisted view and misinterpretation of the truth by religious leaders and their stooges like you.

For you and I there is only one solution and that is unconditional love to fellow beings. I don't know whether Jesus is God or son of god but he showed something which is simple that any body can practice. And, it can be started from the next door neighbor despite their color, creed or race. Love your neighbor as you love yourself.

Anthappan 2014-10-01 09:09:45
Dear Mr. Matthulla. Greetings in the name of My Guru Jesus and I want to let you know that I love you in that spirit. Jesus was bold and he was not a crook like many Christians we come across in our life journey. I don’t know who you are but that doesn’t bother me. But when you constantly hammer to find out my full name, faith, religion, race, color, I can understand what your intentions are. First you want to tear my veil, reveal my identity and then attack me. This is what exactly the Pharisees wanted to do with Jesus. “Are you the king of Jews? Are you the son of God? Have you seen the father in heaven?’’ are some of the questions they raised to him. When they did not get the answer, they were so frustrated and plotted against him and finally crucified him. If they could do that to him and I am not surprised to see some of the modern Christian spending so much time to identify a person like me and deal with them. No one believes that they can do everything so perfectly and be perfectionist but people can set a goal and strive to achieve it. About Nishkaama Karma I find the same meaning in the Bible statement, “you are in the world but off the world.” I give much credit for this poem for triggering this discussion and bringing out the prejudice harbored in the mind of the so called Christians.
Ninan Mathulla 2014-10-01 06:43:15
Jesus will never hide behind a veil, and use this forum for propaganda and racial hatred. They are not held accountable for their posts. Many have misunderstood Jesus. They depict Jesus as a person who chew water and eat it. Jesus is a strong character. Many teachers of the day couldn’t stand before him. He shut their mouth with bold replies. He could make a whip and chase the crooks and thieves and hypocrites away. Before advising another person to love his neighbor as himself, Anthappan needs to demonstrate it. Since he is hiding behind a veil, nobody knows if he is showing a fraction of the love he professes. When you advise others what you do not practice, you deserve double dose of punishment (Bible - Book of James). Bible is easier to practice than Bhaghavad Gita. There are people who died for others (out of love). I found it harder to practice ‘Nishkama karma’ as advised by Arjuna to Krishna. I couldn’t find a single person, who practiced among all the people I knew. Gandhiji didn’t claim he practiced it, but was only trying to practice it. Anthappan might ask his friends to practice ‘Nishkama Karma. Then this world will be heaven. In love there is always discipline there. We love our children, and so we discipline them. Bible says to rebuke your brother earnestly lest his sin fall on your head. Bible also gives permission to “Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit (Proverbs 26:5)
Ninan Mathulla 2014-10-01 09:42:27
Anthappan, we all have our own prejudices. Most people consider their race, religious faith or family traditions better than neighbors, and take pride in it. I am only concerned about your prejudices when you single out Christians for it. Do you expect all Christians to be like angels? Even if they act like angels, still you might not be satisfied. We all are human beings, and we all make mistakes. What keep Christianity apart from other religion is the hope people have in Christ. The price to be paid for our sin is death. Since Jesus paid that price, and took victory over death we have hope. We do not pay a price for our sins. We only need to have faith in Jesus and repent about our sins. It is your choice to accept it or not. Hope your perceptions about different religions will change with time.
Anthappan 2014-10-01 10:01:25
And, I hope Matthulla you come out of the box one day and think along the line of Jesus thinking.
Ninan Mathullah 2014-10-01 10:10:48
Jesus is God, and nobody can think like Jesus. It ia only my desire to think like Jesus. I have my fair share of faults. Naturally I need to be careful not to judge people. My information about others is limited. Jesus could read the hearts of people we stamp as sinners, and save them of their sins. Jesus could see the hypocrisy in others that we judge from their outward appearances.
Anthappan 2014-10-01 13:25:11
Claiming that you are a sinner every time is an excuse to continue sinning. If something you are doing wrong and hurting others stop it and get out of the sinning cycle. In order to do that you have to detoxify your brain through thinking process (repent) then you will be able to reach the level of Jesus’s thinking.
Ninan mathulla 2014-10-01 13:58:06
I am standing on the promises of God, and my authority is the Bible. Not I alone. Many are standing on this rock. If men like Anthappan are guarding the entrance to the Heaven, it will be empty.
Anthappan 2014-10-01 19:53:19
I am sorry Matthulla. I won’t be guarding the heaven where you intend to go. Those are for people like you Bishops, priests and so forth and so on. I will be experiencing heaven on earth with prostitutes, gluttons, tax collectors, and rejected and oppressed by the elite. FYI BIBLE=Basic Instruction Based on Life Experience. Jesus clearly tells in John 5, 39-40 that, “You diligently learn scripture and think there is eternal life in it. But, it is only a witness about me. In order to have life you fail to come to me.” Meditate on it and your inner eyes bill be opened up. With love. Anthappan

Congratulations to Shri Ajit Nair for writing such a very meaningful poem. Once again you proved that you are a wonderful poet. I noticed that many of the readers and followers appreciated you and a few, without understanding the meaning of the poem, made meaningless comments. It is quite natural. Don't be discouraged by them. I know how hard it is to write a poem in this busy world, especially in America, where life is so busy. Not only that you are a family man with children, then we can imagine how busy you are.

I hope and pray that you could write many many meaningful poems like this to inspire the hearts and minds of many readers.

Respectfully,

 Thomas Koovalloor

Ninan Mathullah 2014-10-02 05:24:38
The poem Agith Nair wrote is good in several aspects. But overall it was misleading. Those who do not believe in Bible or Christ have no right to take Bible theme and mislead people. They can ask questions if they do not know. The second coming of Jesus is not dependent on Christians loving their neighbors as themselves. On the other hand Jesus wondered if He will find faith on earth when he returns. Misleading statements from writers like Ajith Nair and Anthappan might be contributing to this decline in faith. Attack on Bible is widespread. Anthappan is twisting Bible verses to suit his own vested needs. If you are not well grounded in the faith in Jesus Christ, you can fall from faith by these attacks. Anthappan thinks everything is under his control and his access to Heaven or Hell is as he pleases. Pride is the root cause of a closed mind and ignorance. Without being an eyewitness to the whole universe how can a person say for sure that there is no Heaven or Hell? Is it not foolishness to say so? On the other hand to say that there is Heaven; one need not see a tangible heaven. Many a thing we believe is not based on sight.
Anthappan 2014-10-02 09:16:18
Mr. Ajith Nair captured the essence of Jesus’s Gospel in his poem and there is nothing misleading in it. His understanding about Jesus and his teaching is much better than Matthulla and many Christian’s have. Whatever, Mr. Matthulla writes here is the general view of the Christians and there is nothing new in it. Mr. Ajith’s poem makes the readers think. And, it also clearly tells how a person with different name (other than Christian name) can feel about Christianity when the Christian treat their neighbors with superiority complex and discrimination. Whatever Mr. Mathulla tells here is not because of his arrogance but out of his ignorance about Jesus and his teachings. This is happens when people get enslaved to the religion.
Ninan Mathullah 2014-10-02 11:50:01
It looks like Anthappan needs something new each time. It doesn’t matter if it is not the truth, or it is against Christian faith. This is acceptable to those who close their eyes and make it dark. In India if I write about Hinduism as Ajith Nair wrote here, it can be considered as Matha Nindha, and I can get punished for it as it is against the law passed in India. Anthappan need to understand what the Gospel is. Even if I failed to love my neighbor as myself, still I can escape from the punishment of death (breaking of the law is sin, and the price for sin is death) by faith in Jesus Christ. This is available to anybody ready to accept Jesus. This is the Good News or Gospel. What Ajith Nair wrote is against the Christian faith. Jesus’ second coming is dependent not on our ability to love our neighbor. Jesus said that the Gospel will be proclaimed the whole world, and then will be the second coming of Jesus. So please do not mislead people in to thinking that for Jesus to come the second time all Christians need to love their brothers as themselves. If so, this is not going to happen ever, or may a million years from now. So what Ajith wrote is against the Christian faith.
Anthappan 2014-10-02 20:39:09
You have a very wrong understanding about sin Mr. Matthulla. The emphasis upon the politics of holiness, combined with the economic pressure toward nonobservance, produced a large group of ‘sinners’ and ‘outcasts’. The term sinners referred to an identifiable social group. Just the term ‘righteous’ did: those who did not follow the ways of the fathers as spelled out by the Torah wisdom of the sages. The worst of the nonobservant were the outcasts and, that included ‘wicked’ (murders, extortioners, prostitutes, and the like). And, I would like to remind you that Jesus spent most time with these outcast and sinners in society not with Bible scholars like you who argues without any thinking and reasoning. Some of the things you are writing are mere repetition of what you said few days ago. The word ‘Sin’ is coined by Pharisees not by Jesus. Jesus many time used the same word to explain his point of view. When he quoted, “I came not to destroy the law but to fulfill it.” He was quoting their own word and pointed out that they were hypocrites never practiced anything they preached. I know that you are afraid of the truth and fear that the real truth will set you free from the shackles, which you are now comfortable with. I am not misleading people rather trying to take them a different level of thinking. If anybody thinks that I am misguiding them, they have the freedom to choose it or reject it.

I agree with Anthappan here. Enough is said about this subject. Let the readers decide. We need to think twice before we write. We all make mistakes. The honest thing to do when a mistake is made is to admit it and try not to repeat it. The tendency is to justify it using rationalization.

Timothy 2:23-25

Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know that they breed quarrels. And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth.

Appreciate Mr.Ajith for his effort to write a poem like this.  I feel it is a good literary work and no need to interpret it in a religious context.  No where he has criticized anybody, i like the line starting with "mannile makkalil nee kaanum roopathil........Really a good poem.  Ajith, expect more from you.  Gos bless you.

Ajit was only an infant in writing so far, but, now he is proved by the 40+ comments that he is a professional writer. Anybody can write a poem, but, to write few lines with great vision is only possible by God gifted people. Please ignore the lunatic and fundamentalist ignorants. Ajit congratulations. Keep writing!

Njaan Varaam -----Pakshe----, by Ajit Nair: An Inspirational poem

Ajit’s poem is very thought provoking and inspiring.  I don’t look at it from my Christian background, beliefs, and practices, even though it has undertones of Christ’s teachings as explained in the Bible. Christ’s messages were not specifically addressed to Christians, but meant for all humanity.  After all, there were no Christians in Christ’s period of time.

To examine some lines from the poem which reiterate Christ’s words:
“You will see me in you, if you look
Children of this world, you can see me in you
I am anywhere and in anything”
The above lines echo Christ’s words: “ I live in you and you live in me.”
Also, the message in the last four lines, namely, “love your neighbor” is the very epitome of Christ’s teachings.

Even though the poem echoes Christ’s words in many respects, I don’t look at it from a Christian perspective. To write poems reflecting any religious founders’/leaders’ teachings, the poet doesn’t have to be a believer himself. In this poem, Ajit, the poet is just sharing his vision like any other poets whose visions could reflect their dreams, imaginations, social and religious backgrounds, more importantly, their interpretation of the world as learned from their learning, readings, and experience.  Readers are free to interpret poets’ vision in their own ways, and poets should be open to any kind of criticism—both constructive and negative. Any kind of criticism helps poets to rethink and rewrite, if needed.  However, the critics may sometimes have to ask themselves if they are, to quote from Ajit’s poem, “groping in darkness,” while wishing to “light the candle.”

My reading and interpretation of Ajit’s poem tell me he is a great budding poet, speaking to the world at large.  He definitely has a message, be it religious or non-religious. He should find time to write more poems.
