'Happy New Year' is a title that everybody can understand: Farah Khan

Filmmaker Farah Khan recently shared an interview with music producer T-Series' official YouTube channel about her upcoming film 'Happy New Year'.

Speaking about the title of the film, Khan said, "I thought the title was very positive and happy. It is also something that every person knows, irrespective of their location or culture. In our script, the entire film builds up towards that date, the eve of December 31."

Talking about the cast of 'Happy New Year', Khan said happily, "We were very lucky that we got 99 per cent of the actors we were looking for."

Adding that Boman Irani and Shah Rukh Khan were the first ones to sign the film, Khan said, "I specifically wanted Abhishek Bachchan for the role of Nandu Bhide. He has a great sense of comic timing, and I thought that he would look great as a tapori. Also, he's one of the most underrated actors in the industry."

Khan added, "I interviewed over a 100 boys for the role of young Rohan, I finally found the perfect fit in Vivaan Shah."

Khan also talked about how hectic the 'Slam!' tour was for the entire cast of 'Happy New Year'.

"But it was a great show, with great production value, and we had a blast," she said.

The ensemble cast for 'Happy New Year' includes Deepika Padukone, Sonu Sood, Boman Irani, and Jackie Shroff, who plays the bad guy.

Touted as Bollywood's big Diwali release this year, the film promises to make the festive season 'happier' for fans of Hindi movies and Shah Rukh Khan, who will be seen on the big screen after a gap of over a year. His last release was the blockbuster Chennai Express, in which his chemistry with Deepika was lauded.
