Christian beliefs, in my opinion, should be entirely based on the Bible alone and in its entirety. The basic teaching as summarized by Christ is to 'Love God and love your neighbor'. He also recited the famous story of a wounded Jew being rescued by the Samaritan (in today's venacular we can say a Christian being rescued by a Hindu). It may be noted that Jesus deliberately took the example of Samaritan as the neighbor since Jews and Samaritans had issues with their social co-existence. The Bible teaches that you cannot love an unseen God without loving your fellow human being who you can see.
When talking about the path to God, however, Jesus was clear that 'He is the way, the truth and the life and noone comes to the Father (God) apart from him (Jesus). There are relevant verses in the Vedas which reveal the fact that Jesus was the 'Prajapathi' described therein. How much it applies to this article, I cannot connect. It is good to examine the contents and research the hidden truths.
Vedic requirements for the Sacrificial Purusha
The Rig Veda specifies ten important requirements for the sacrificial Purusha.
1. Should be without a blemish (Nishikalanga Purusha)
Kaatyaayana Srautasootram describes in chapter six, that the water and fire were to be used for the purification of the animals, since blameless (defect less) animals are not available in this world.
2. The Purusha has to be separated from others
While sacrificing the horse, the sacrificial horse is always separated from other horses. A bush of thorns is usually placed on the head of the horse to inform the people that this horse is separated from the sacrifice.
Also the head of the horse is considered to represent the Purusha (Sathapatha Brahmana 13th kanda, 6.22).
3. The Purusha has to be rejected by his own people
In Itareya Brahmana it is written that the sacrificial animal should be rejected by its father, mother, brother, sister and friends (2.16).
4. The Yagna Purusha has to suffer silently
Rig Veda 5.46.1 says, "Like a horse I have yoked myself, well knowing to the pole. I seek neither release nor turning back".
5. The Purusha has to be tied to a post
In Satapata Brahmana it is written, never do they immolate an animal without tying it to a pole. "Na varute yapaat pasum alabhate kadachana (III -7.3.1)". It is important to tie the animal to a sacrificial pillar before it is sacrificed.
This pillar is called "Yupastampa (sacrificial pillar)", which has now become a flag mast.
6. The blood of the sacrificial man should be shed
Bruhad Aranyaka Upanishad (3.9.28.2) says, "Tvacha evasya rudhiram, prasyandi tvacha utpatah, Tasmaattadarunnaat praiti, raso vrukshadi vahataat",
As the sap comes out of the cut tree, blood comes out of the Purusha who is cut.
7. The sacrificed animal's bones should not be broken
In Itareya Brahmana 2.6 it is stated that the sacrificer separates the twenty-six ribs of the animal without breaking them
8. The sacrificed Purusha should return to life
The Bruhad Aranyaka Upanishad says,
"Yad Vruksho vrukshano rohati, mulannavatharah punah, martyah svinmrutyuna vruknah, kasmaanmulaat prarohati, Retasa iti maavocata, jivatastat praja yate, dhanaruh a iva vai crau vruksho, anjasaa pretya sammbhavha",
which means, if the tree is cut, it will grow again from its root. But after the man (martyah) was cut off by death, from which root does he come forth? Do not say that has is from the ratas (seed or semen) because ratas comes from the one who lives. Remember this man is dead. But this man (Purusha) comes alive, on his own.
9. The flesh of the Purusha should be eaten by his saints
In Satpata Brahmana(5.1.1.1,2) we find that Prajapati gave Himself up to them, thus the sacrifice became theirs, and indeed the sacrifice is the food of the gods (saints).
10. The sacrifice is for all
Verse 8 in Purusha Sukta explains,
Tasmaad yagnatsarvahutah, pasuntamscakre voayaryaa, naananyaan gramyaasca ye.
By that sacrifice, all these originated: sprinkled ghee and all kinds of animals of the sky, forest and country. The significance of sprinkled ghee represents the original sacrifice.
Verse 9 of Purusha Sukta says:
Tasmaad yagnat sarvahuta, nucha samaari jagnire, Chandaamsi jagnine, tasmaad yajustas naada jaayatah.
From that sacrifice, Purusha offered everything that he had, including the Rig, Sama, Yazur Vedas and the Chandas (sacred writings).
How meticulously these Vedic requirements have been fulfilled in Jesus Christ of Nazareth
1. Jesus Christ was without any blemish
In the Old Testament Bible it is written, "Do not bring anything with a defect, because it will not be accepted on your behalf"(Levi 22:20). "Whether male or female, present before the Lord an animal without defect " (Levi 3:1).
The New Testament says, "In Him (Jesus Christ) there was no sin"(1 John 3:5).
2. Jesus Christ was separated from others
The Bible says,
"the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe" John 19:2, thus separating Him from others.
3. Jesus Christ was rejected by his own people
The Prophet Isaiah wrote,
"He (Jesus Christ) was despised and rejected and they shouted to crucify him".
Jesus said on the cross, "Eloi Iama sabaktani", which means, "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?" (Mathew 27:46).
4. Jesus Christ suffered silently
"He was oppressed and afflicted, yet He did not open his mouth. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter and as a sheep before the Shearer's is silent" (Isaiah 56:7).
5. Jesus Christ was tied
Ps. 118:27 says, "Bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar".
6. Jesus Christ's blood was shed
This was fulfilled in Jesus Christ when he was nailed to the cross.
"He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but entered the most holy place once for all by His own blood, having obtained eternal redemption. Without shedding blood there is no redemption" (Heb 9:12,22).
7. Jesus Christ's bones were not broken
In the Bible, Exodus 12:46 says that the bones of the animal should not be broken. Three hours after crucifixion,
"when they (soldiers) came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs"(John 19:33).
8. Jesus Christ rose again from the dead
"Him (Jesus Christ) God raised up the third day, and showed him openly" (Acts 10:40). "But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the first fruits of them that slept"(1Cor. 15:20).
Ninan Matthulla is now trying to establish that Jesus is the God (Even though Jesus himself didn’t emphasized on it) by twisting the essence of what Padannammakel and Vidyaadhran has written. I don’t know how many times Jesus steadfastly arguing that he is the god. What I perceive from the writing of Mr. Padannamakkel and Vidyadhran is that there is common thread binding everything in the universe and it could be spirit or energy. Jesus, as per the Bible, said very clearly to worship him in truth and spirit. He also said to honor the spirit the most in each one of us.
Religions don’t want to teach the people the truth because it will be the end of their business. People are running multimillion dollar business by spreading lie about Jesus, one of the greatest reformers of history, and misinterpreting the truth. The image of Jesus as a spirit filled person the charismatic stream of Judaism is perfectly crystalized in the words with which, per Luke, Jesus began his public ministry. “The spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovering of (inner) sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who ae oppressed, to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” This kind of spirit is in everyone. People like Gandhi tapped into it and still living in the mind of people and for him there is no spiritual death.
God and the world of spirit are all around us, including within us, rather than God being somewhere else. We (and everything that is) are God. We live in spirit even though we are typically unaware of this reality. If we tap into it in its full extend we can be a Jesus or God (It is recorded in bible as Jesus saying that human beings are God and Goddesses). You don’t have to go to temple or church to bring out the full potential in you rather, “let your light so shine before the man so that other’s will see your good work and glorify the father in heaven” (father in heaven is hypothetical)
Lead a good life on earth by loving each other, the neighbors (Muslims, Hindus etc.) , serving each other and staying in your faith because as Vidaydhrarn quoted at the end of his comment. “There is one truth and that is the spirit which is binding us all together.” Compassion, love, care and are all the virtues of that spirit.
It is sad that 80% of Christians voted for Trump and elected him as President who wants to take away the liberty of the poor and oppressed. Money is not always the uplifting force but our kind and compassionate gestures will lift the spirit and make it flow in the universe.
Religions don’t want to teach the people the truth because it will be the end of their business. I do not know if this applicable to everybody People are running multimillion dollar business All religions have multimillion dollar assets. Why this is an exception in Christianity. Is it lack of tolerance towards them? by spreading lie about Jesus, one of the greatest reformers of history, and misinterpreting the truth. Is not Anthappan spreading lie about Jesus by calling him just reformer instead of God as Bible is explicit in naming Jesus God? The image of Jesus as a spirit filled person the charismatic stream of Judaism is perfectly crystalized in the words with which, per Luke, Jesus began his public ministry. Jesus was fully human and God at the same time. So he is spirit filled. I do not disagree. ‘Eeswara chaithanyam ellavarilumundu’ That doesn’t mean that we are the creator God
God and the world of spirit are all around us, including within us, rather than God being somewhere else. This is not logical. Yes, God’s spirit is in all of us and around us. But how can the spirit in us be our own creator? We (and everything that is) are God. This argument like Big Bang theory is not logical We live in spirit even though we are typically unaware of this reality. If we tap into it in its full extend we can be a Jesus or God (It is recorded in bible as Jesus saying that human beings are God and Goddesses This is yet to happen in eternity as far as I know). You don’t have to go to temple or church to bring out the full potential in you rather, “let your light so shine before the man so that other’s will see your good work and glorify the father in heaven” ‘Chuvarillathe chithramezhuthamo?. If you have to shine there must be people to see that. Church is one place people come together and is an opportunity for it.(father in heaven is hypothetical) Is it twisting Jesus’ words. If you can’t grasp an idea that doesn’t mean that all are the same way
Lead a good life on earth by loving each other, the neighbors (Muslims, Hindus etc.) , serving each other and staying in your faith because as Vidaydhrarn quoted at the end of his comment. “There is one truth and that is the spirit which is binding us all together.” Compassion, love, care and are all the virtues of that spirit. This is not the whole picture. If you can’t see the whole picture please do not assume that what you see is the only truth.
It is sad that 80% of Christians voted for Trump and elected him as President who wants to take away the liberty of the poor and oppressed. I do not know if this is true. This argument is not relevant here. Money is not always the uplifting force but our kind and compassionate gestures will lift the spirit and make it flow in the universe. From Vidhyadharan’s comment. Vidhyadharan’s comments are true from a general perspective but not applicable to every situation. Eeswara Chaithanyam ellayidathumundu. One does not need religion to see it. Manifestations of God’s glory are everywhere. For many tribal and natives there is no organized religion or scriptures. Their judgment will not be based on any religious scriptures as in their conscience right and wrong is there and they live according to it. But God revealed himself through different religions also. Each religion is at different level of understanding. It is good to study and find the common thread in all religion to avoid hatred and misunderstanding. Each religion can be considered as a revelation of God and a covenant God made with different cultures in different time periods through different prophets. Book of Hebrews in Bible talks about it. ‘Long ago God spoke to our ancestors (all the people of the world and not just Abraham, Issac and Jacob as God never talked to them through prophets) in many and various ways (through nature and through different religions) by the prophets (prophets of each religion- Moses, Munis that wrote Vedas, Vyasa Muni, Budha, Confucius, Muhammad) but in these last days he has spoken to us by a Son, (Jesus) whom he appointed heir of all things through him he created the worlds. He is the reflection of God’s glory and the exact imprint of God’s very being, and he sustains all things by his powerful word. Hebrews 1:1. Book of Hebrews is addressed to the Hebrews and as mentioned before it is addressed to Hindus also as they are the children of Abrahan a Hebrew. Hebrew is derived from the name of Eber in Bible in Genesis 10 and all his descendants. So it is addressed to all those who are familiar with sacrifice to please God. It is addressed to Muslims also as they are children of Abraham and sacrifice was common in Mecca and the Muslim world before Prophet Muhammad replaced it with prayer or the worship in truth and spirit. It is addressed to Hindus also as they are familiar with sacrifice of animals through their Vedas although now it is replaced by prayer and Pujas to Krishna (Christ). It is addressed to all the people of the world as all are descendants of Abraham’s children as they mixed with Noah’s other children to form different cultures all over the world. Threads of Truth are in all religions. Instead of shunning religion we need to study it and find the common thread in all. (‘World Religions’ by Huston Smith is a good book as an introduction). The rights and responsibilities as per the covenant in each religion are different. The husband wife relationship with God through Christ the Bridegroom and Church the Bride is not possible through other religions. The father-son relationship with God is also is alien to other religions. Most religions except Christianity the relationship with God is Master-slave relationship as Paul call Judaism the slave religion. It is your choice and desire to have a higher relationship with God that God act upon it to reveal the truth to you. For that as a first step one need to search for the Truth in different religions with a humble spirit. The religion the easiest to practice is Christianity as it is the relationship with God as children. To who does we give the most difficult job in the house- to the children or slaves or servants?

Vaayanakkaran, I do not understand why you twist my comments to mislead others. Nowhere in my comments had I stated that other religions are from Satan. Repeatedly I stated that all major religions are from God although corruptions in rituals crept into all religions. Please do not mislead readers by twisting my words. Next, is it not from intolerance to say that when I make a statement that it is ‘adicheppikkukayennu’. Nobody is forcing anything on anybody. I made a statement. Take it if you like it. If you have argument against it presents it with supporting evidence. മുടന്തൻ ന്യായങ്ങളും Not for everybody. You do the same thing. To support your arguments you bring from mythology and others opinions. I said there is a tradition like that and I brought supporting arguments for it. Why don’t you take it just as an idea or bring supporting arguments against it rather than react with intolerance. Freedom of expression is a constitutional right. Is it from intolerance you write like this? You also did the same here. Is it intolerance to react like this when I state my belief? When you react like this I consider it from intolerance. Otherwise just take it or leave it. We can always agree to disagree and still be friends. You use the same right I use here. If you respect my faith then you won/t react like this. Making a statement ‘sadikkukayano’? Again please do not twist my words. Please show some respect to others faith also. Thanks.
Don’t get frustrated Mr. Matthulla but keep on writing expecting heated exchange from others. As you said about me, I am changing my radical approach to drive my thoughts to have a fresh look at it by you and likeminded people. Nobody (Vayanakkaran, Vidyadharen, and Padannamakkel) here, as per my observation, reject Jesus or his teachings rather they are saying that the common thread binding the humanity is love and can be found in the teachings of all the great teachers. All the sages who wrote the Vedas, Buddha, and Jesus are all trying to highlight that truth through their teachings and ministry.
But, the polarization starts when anyone insists that there is only one way and rejects other arguments. Religion has vested interest in dividing people because of their business interest. Religion may be good for the economy and employing people but they should pay tax just like any other corporations (They don’t pay tax either) or businesses. Though we here church and state are separate, literarily they are one and the same.
Jesus challenged the Jewish religion and Romans for exploiting poor and marginalizing them. He then uplifted the spirit of the people (Sermon of the mount); His teaching centered on the importance of taking care of each other. He is not the founder of Christianity rather Christianity found him and exploited people further. Though Pope Francis practices the teachings of the Christ by bringing poor to Vatican, he is reluctant to give up the comfort of Vatican. And, the difference between Jesus and his so called followers is that the followers don’t want to give up their comfort. Vidyadharan makes a valid point with respect to this by shedding light into the lives of Buddha, Jesus and many other spiritual leaders; They all gave up their comfort to serve the people and uplift them spiritually. But modern religions are as powerful as governments. Religion can protect kingdoms and governments and also shake them up. If you don’t believe it, look around the globe and find it out. Trump wouldn’t have been President elect if 80% of the Christians were not supporting him.
