ചരിത്രം മാറ്റി എഴുതാന്‍ ശ്രമിക്കരുത്. പകല്‍ 4 സുവിശേഷ യോഗത്തില്‍ സ്ത്രീകള്‍ക്ക് കയറാമെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം കൂട്ടിച്ചേര്‍ത്തു. കണ്‍വെന്‍ഷനില്‍ തുടക്കം മുതലേ തന്നെ സ്ത്രീകള്‍ക്ക് പ്രവേശനം നല്‍കിയിരുന്നില്ല. ആദ്യകാലത്ത് വാഹനസൗകര്യം കുറവായിരുന്നതും വൈദ്യുതിയില്ലാതിരുന്നതുമായിരുന്നു ഇതിന് കാരണമെന്നാണ് മുതിര്‍ന്നവര്‍ പറയുന്നത്. മാര്‍ത്തോമാ സഭയുടെ റാന്നി, ആറാട്ടുപുഴ, അടൂര്‍, കൊട്ടാരക്കര, കോട്ടയം, ചുങ്കത്തറ കണ്‍വെന്‍ഷനുകളിലെ രാത്രിയോഗത്തില്‍ സ്ത്രീകള്‍ക്ക് പ്രവേശനം നിഷേധിച്ചിട്ടില്ല. സ്ത്രീകളെ പ്രവേശിപ്പിക്കാത്തതില്‍ വിമര്‍ശം ഉയര്‍ന്ന സാഹചര്യത്തിലായിരുന്നു മെത്രാപ്പോലീത്തയുടെ വിശദീകരണം
പുതുവത്സര ദിനത്തില്‍ സഭയുടെ എല്ലാ ഇടവകകളിലും രാത്രി 12ന് നടക്കുന്ന പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥനയിലും ഈസ്റ്റര്‍ ദിനത്തില്‍ ഇടവകകളില്‍ പുലര്‍ച്ചെ നടക്കുന്ന യോഗങ്ങളിലും സ്ത്രീകള്‍ക്ക് നിരോധനമില്ല. ഇവിടെയെങ്ങുമില്ലാത്ത സുരക്ഷാപ്രശ്‌നം മാരാമണില്‍ എങ്ങനെയുണ്ടാകുമെന്നും ചോദ്യം ഉയരുന്നുണ്ട്. കാലോചിതമായി യാതൊരു പ്രശ്‌നവുമില്ലാതെ പരിഹരിക്കാവുന്ന വിഷയമാണെന്നും വാദം ഉയരുന്നു. പഴയ കാലഘട്ടത്തില്‍നിന്ന് വ്യത്യസ്തമായി ഭൂരിഭാഗം സ്ത്രീകളും ജോലി ചെയ്യുന്നവരും വ്യാപാരം നടത്തുന്നവരുമാണ്. ജോലി കഴിഞ്ഞെത്തി കുടുംബമായി യോഗത്തില്‍ പങ്കെടുക്കാന്‍ ഈ വിലക്ക് നീക്കിയാല്‍ സാധിക്കുമെന്ന് വിചാരിക്കുന്ന ഒരു വിഭാഗവുമുണ്ട്.
സ്ത്രീകള്‍ക്ക് എന്നും അംഗീകാരം നല്‍കിയ സഭയാണ് മലങ്കര മാര്‍ത്തോമ്മാ സഭ. സഭകളില്‍ വനിതകള്‍ക്ക് ആദ്യമായി വോട്ടവകാശം ഏര്‍പ്പെടുത്തിയത് മാര്‍ത്തോമ്മാ സഭയിലാണ്. സഭാ കൗണ്‍സില്‍ അംഗങ്ങളില്‍ മൂന്നിലൊന്ന് വനിതകളാണ്. ഇടവകകളില്‍ നിന്ന് സഭാ മണ്ഡലം പ്രതിനിധികളായും വനിതകളെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. അനാവശ്യ വിവാദത്തിലേക്ക് സഭയെ ഇരുകൂട്ടരും ചേര്‍ന്ന് വലിച്ചിഴയ്ക്കുകയാെണന്നാണ് നിഷ്പക്ഷമതികളുടെ അഭിപ്രായം.

Bar on women at night sessions at Asia's biggest Christian meet to stay
Maramon (Kerala), Feb 12 The bar on women's entry to the night sessions of the Syrian Mar Thoma Church's famed Maramon convention that began here on Sunday will stay due to security reasons, its supreme head said.
"There is a group here, who are trying to get media attention by raising non-issues. They want their names to be printed in newspapers and show their faces on TV. At this convention, there are four sessions where women can enter, but it's not possible in the night sessions and that's not going to be changed," said Metropolitan, Joseph Mar Thoma, in his inaugural address at the week-long 122nd edition of what is billed as Asia's biggest Christian convention.
"It must not be forgotten that our Church has always taken the lead by giving due importance to women and we were the first to give voting rights to women. The non-entry to women in night sessions is on account of security and it's not a ban," he said.
This convention, held on the banks of river Pamba, has over the years become the flagship programme of the Thiruvalla-headquartered Mar Thoma Syrian Church of Malabar, which claims to have a following of a million.
The convention is held under the aegis of the Mar Thoma Evangelistic Association.
Incidentally, for the past one month, a group of Mar Thoma Church members under the name and style of 'Naveekerna Vedi' (Reformists) -- which has been in existence for over a quarter century but does not have the approval of the Church -- raised the issue in the Church meeting, but the matter was not taken up for discussion.
After that they have been trying to gain public support to the idea of entry to women in the night sessions, but it has failed to get acceptance.
The Mar Thoma Church, which defines itself as apostolic in origin, universal in nature, biblical in faith, evangelical in principle, ecumenical in outlook, oriental in worship, democratic in function, and episcopal in character, has been able to make inroads in the education sector and runs numerous educational institutions.
The origin and growth of this annual get-together for a week can be traced to the great revival movement which gathered momentum along with the reformation in the ancient Syrian Church of Malabar under the leadership of Abraham Malpan.

സ്ത്രികളെ പേടി; പുരോഹിതര്‍ക്കോ അതോ ദൈവങ്ങല്‍ക്കോ ?
Religions always falsely & hypocritically claimed to be 'the lord protector of morality. And they all claimed their right to exist by propagating that without religion there will be chaos & violence. It may be true to an extent. But at the same time it is indirectly admitting that religions has failed to cultivate morality in their followers and so they are using the scare tactics- the myth of heaven and hell to keep the faithful under control.
In fact they are admitting all these years of preaching& training has not changed the character of their followers.
I agree to the findings and decisions of – not to permit women in Sabarimala & Maramon convection. Not because of any religious sentiments but because it is evident that females are not safe in a male dominated gathering.
The devote, who goes on pilgrimage is on lent and supposed to have control of his instincts. If it is true or practical, there is no problem for women to go to Sabari mala.
Maramon is also supposed to cleanse the faithful. But when the high priests admit that it is not safe for women to be there, they are admitting all- it is a failed show. A foolery that being used to satisfy the immediate ego of the devotee.
All religions has failed to change the attitude of humans. Two wonderful religions,Jainism & Buddhism; the human civilization ever produced; has almost withered away. Hinduism, Judaism, Christianity- they all claim to be old or ancient and still survive. But none of them are the same as it was in the beginning. They all evolved and took different changes. Even with all those changes they went through, they too will disappear soon. In future, religions will be observed by the ignorant & under-educated& poor. Priests will try their best to keep as many as possible in that status too.
Those type of faithfuls will be the biggest threat to human civilization. We eye-witness that in every part of the World every day.
The faithful will never change,they still are in their primitive characteristics- the wild, cruel,selfish, unconcerned Barbarian. Change, culture,empathy,love of all living things & Nature- all has to originate from within the individual. When humans become good, we don't need police or priests to watch over us.
Religions has admitted repeatedly that they failed to change human character. We need individuals with self- awareness the need for being good. Until humans can achieve that level of conscience, failed religions will fool & exploit the faithful.
One of the biggest foolishness under the Sun is :- Women being a devotee of these religions, where they are not safe, not equal to men. Here & there they get a few crumbs of power & equality to keep them in the chains. Once women start leaving these religions, the attitude of men will change and we may be able to hope for a better humanitarian society.
It is sad to see women are not safe at dark hrs in most part of the World. Are we not still those cave men ?
