Trump signs $1.5 trillion tax package into law
(22:36) Washington, Dec 22 (IANS) US President Donald Trump on Friday signed a $1.5 trillion tax overhaul package into law, amid concerns that the change would widen income inequality and swell public debt.
At the signing ceremony in the Oval Office, Trump called it "a bill for the middle class and a bill for jobs," adding "corporations are literally going wild", reported Xinhua.
Hailing the size of the tax cut, Trump said he was going to wait to sign it until after January 1, but changed his mind. The Independent reported that before he signed, Trump told reporters that "the numbers will speak".
The legislation provides generous cuts for corporations and the wealthiest Americans and smaller ones for the middle class and low-income families.
On Wednesday, the US Congress passed the Republican bill on expected lines, with no Democrat voting for it. "By cutting taxes and reforming the broken system, we are now pouring rocket fuel into the engine of our economy," Xinhua quoted Trump as saying on Wednesday.
Some companies said they would spend the savings from lower corporate taxes on higher wages and new construction.
Cutting corporate income tax rates to 21 per cent from the current 35 per cent and lowering individual income rates, it is the first major overhaul of the US' tax laws since 1986, but far from the largest tax cut in its history, as Trump claims, said the Independent.
Politically, it marks the Republicans' first major legislative accomplishment of the Trump presidency.
The four pillars of Reagan's economic policy were to reduce the growth of government spending, reduce the federal income tax and capital gains tax, reduce government regulation, and tighten the money supply in order to reduce inflation. est During Reagan's presidency, the national debt nearly tripled, and the U.S. went from being the world's largest creditor nation to the world's largest debtor nation in under eight years.

The arguments Kunthara present here is the same the rich present always to get things done in their favor. If you want to get a thing done, present it such a way that it is in the best interest of the other party to do as you say. After following these policies the gap between rich and poor is ever increasing, and middle and poor class depend on debt to make both ends meet. Now it is a different type of slavery here- Economic slavery. People are slaves of Banks and other credit institutions. We will reach a stage that it can not be sustained. Politician’s extravagance is a small percentage of the problem. Most of the tax money is used to support services. When that tax money is gone, it will come back to burden the public as fees increase. Take college tuition and fees for example. People are struggling due to debt burden. The saving rate in USA is the lowest as there is no money left to save. The bonus offered by corporations now is a trick to improve public image for the corporations and prevent public ire. I worked for Laboratory Corporation for America for 17 years, and my pension if I retire at 66 will be $240 a month. My friend who worked for Metro retired recently after 32 years of service and he told me he is getting $1600 a month. The rich corporations never part with the money unless they are forced to pay as taxes. And the COO’s and management of these corporations get lion share of the profit. Their argument is that it is in your best interest to create jobs for you. Naive like Kunthara believe it, and mislead others.
To address the federal deficit, which will grow by at least $1 trillion if the tax plan passes, Congress will need to cut entitlement programs such as Social Security, Rubio told reporters this week. Advocates for the elderly and the poor have warned that entitlement programs would be on the chopping block, but this is the first time a prominent Republican has backed their claims." It is up to you to believe Kurnthra or the press. ( There are readers coming on this forum reads other materials too since the political changes taking (saying hundred times fake is no going to make facts fake) place in this country is going to affect them I agree with the reader that Kunthara doesn't do enough research and write. I understand his loyalty to Trump but it is horrible to misguide people like you who also don't read enough to understand the truth.
Republicans say it’s a tax cut
for the middle class. The
biggest winners are the rich- Washington Post.
The independent, non-partisan Tax Policy Center reached this conclusion:
"...not only would the tax cuts continue to be regressive, but the vast majority of American households would actually be worse off, with the tax cuts plus the financing, than they would be if the tax cuts had not occurred."
Here's what Los Angeles Times columnist Michael Hiltzik discovered when he pried into the Senate GOP's tax plan: [Copied from Forbes.]
"Changing the inflation index immediately would raise about $125 billion over the next decade and nearly $500 billion in the decade after that, according to the Tax Policy Center. Most of that money would come out of the pockets of middle- and working-class taxpayers. Most important, it would slow inflation adjustments to tax brackets. This would hurt those taxpayers because more of them would move into higher tax brackets purely because of inflation in their wages."-- The GOP Plan Would Really Raise Taxes for Middle Class Over Time. President Trump and his GOP allies have been crowing about how middle class families will receive a tax cut in their plan. The truth is obscured by the fact that several tax breaks -- like personal exemptions and property tax write-offs -- are cut. Moreover, whatever meager personal cuts are proposed now go away in the future to pay for huge rate reductions for global corporations and the ultra-wealthy. Here's Catherine Rampell in the Washington Post:"Republican leaders keep claiming the bill focuses on helping the middle class. But voters are already catching on to the fact that the biggest tax cuts go to the wealthiest.Lately the public has learned that the Senate bill will actually raise taxes for households making less than $75,000 by 2027, relative to current law. Yes you read that right. And it’s true even if you don’t count the bill’s changes to Obamacare."-- Those Who Can Least Afford It Will Pay the Most for These "Reforms." The math is most compelling because it's mostly subtraction for working people.Since the in GOP plan is not cutting corporate loopholes, bringing back trillions in offshore cash by corporations and cutting defense spending, again, the only way to reduce the federal deficit is to slash big programs like Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid. This cruel math hurts everyone from retired people in nursing homes to the working poor. There's no help for families paying for long-term care, payroll taxes or college.Graduate students and families paying off college debt see whatever modest tax breaks vanish. That will further mushroom the outrageous cost of college.Instead of giving families tax credits for college bills and nursing/home care bills, they pay more out of pocket while the estate and alternative minimum tax on the ultra-affluent disappear. And on health care, the GOP tax reform template would cause millions to lose their health coverage or pay more, according to a fresh analysis from the AARP Public Policy Institute:-- People ages 50 to 64 would face average premium increases of up to $1,500 in 2019 as a result of the bill, the AARP study found.
-- The Senate plan eliminates the Affordable Care Act’s individual mandate, which requires most Americans to have health insurance. But eliminating the mandate would leave 4 million more Americans uninsured by 2019 and 13 million by 2025, according to Congressional Budget Office estimates.-- With fewer younger, healthier people obligated to pay for health insurance, average overall premiums in the individual market would rise about 10 percent annually “in most years” over the next decade, the CBO said.- Older Americans ages 50 to 64, who typically pay higher insurance premiums, would bear the brunt of the mandate’s demise. The independent, non-partisan Tax Policy Center reached this conclusion:"...not only would the tax cuts continue to be regressive, but the vast majority of American households would actually be worse off, with the tax cuts plus the financing, than they would be if the tax cuts had not occurred."
It had been observed that the author is a trump fan/worshipper & was misleading & confusing readers with his under educated and biased articles. You have no clue what trump & Republicans are doing. Stop spreading false news. There are racial attacks on non- whites at an alarming rate, Fascism is spreading, which will destroy this Nation and World peace. Learn the consequences before you preach Trumpism= white supremacy. You too will be a victim.
